After having spent the last year or so creating pretty meaty web sites and messing with adwords to try affiliate marketing I have finally decided to take the plunge and write my own E-Book.

It is not quite that straight forward though. My plan is not just to make the same old bog standard E-Book that you see, with the garish marketing page with large red text at the top. I am going to try out some new advertising methods which are essentially totally un-tapped by even the biggest online marketers and e-book sellers.

Keep checking back as I won’t be telling you where these new advertising spaces are just yet, not until I have used them for my own “evil” plans. but rest assured I will say, hell, I will show you once I get everything up and running. Slightly worried that I have used ‘evil’ and ‘hell’ in the same sentence though. Oh well, onward…

The plan for my E-book is quite simple when looked at from the same distance as exists between the moon and the earth:

1. Create funky ebook
2. Use my special advertising methods
3. Profit!!!!
4. Rinse and Repeat

However just like getting to the moon it is not as simple as it sounds. Of course there is the chance that my ‘alternative’ marketing will flop but I doubt that. The real concern is coming up with a new E-book that will interest enough people to purchase it.

A million and one books
E-books have been created about almost every subject known, but the point is to focus on the “almost” bit. Come up with a new e-book or a new angle on a specific subject which can then be neatly packaged and allow the reader to actually gain some information that they did not have before.

I mentioned getting people to purchase the e-book. This is still an area that I am undecided on due to the different routes I could take. The first option is that I could decide to give the e-book away free but have links inside which are affiliate coded, that way the book is free and any “support” products the readers purchase to achieve their goals will give me cash. If I offer tools and the option that they can pass the book on to whoever they want I could even get further sales from a market that I originally could not reach.

The second option would be to charge a very small fee for the book and hope that I get a large number of sales. At the moment this seems like my most preferable option. A price like $2.49 / £1.99 sounds pretty good, it’s small change these days so readers will not really mind giving up the cash, plus I still have the option to use affiliate codes within the book depending on if the subject matter lends itself to affiliate marketing products.

The final option is to follow the trend and simply charge $10 - $99 for the information contained. I think this will scare a lot of customers off, and seeing as this would be my first e-book I think I would be more thankful to build up my email list of potential future customers and get experience / feedback about my e-book that I can apply to future endeavours.

To the future and beyond
There is nothing to stop me updating and releasing a bigger and better version in the future which can be marketed straight at the existing customers with a “discount” as well as via the usual methods. You can probably see how in an ideal world this will make a lot of cash and have a nice snowball effect, especially if trust has already been gained via the low price / free option originally offered.

It’s all a matter of subject
Subject is a difficult issue for this e-book. I am having a hard time deciding just what I want the ebook to be about. I need to come up with a fresh idea that people require and has a high enough demand. There are already plenty of e-books about affiliate marketing, Internet money making etc as can been seen in the reviews section of this Website. I will make no secret of the fact that I hope one day I will be able to package my ramblings from this Website into an e-book or perhaps evening a real world publication, however that is a long way off and not my primary goal.
