Drop shipping products to make top dosh

Auto Date Wednesday, April 19th, 2006

onlineshop.jpgYou may recall I recently wrote about my Hyundai Sports Club website that was going pretty well. It targets the Hyundai vehicle owners and has started to turn into a “club”, as such this is most certainly the ‘White Hat’ side of my projects.

The new idea is to open an online store to sell Hyundai Car Parts with particular reference to the Hyundai Coupe. I have found a supplier of pretty much everything available for Hyundai vehicles who are willing to ‘drop ship’ the products to customers. This means essentially I set up a store, fill it with their products, and forward the orders and money to them at their end at which point they take care of everything…. which is nice.

The key behind all of this is that I do not need to stock any inventory or buy products up front. I just forward orders and relax. Many people do this on ebay already, and no doubt I will do the same with more popular products, however for now I want to branch a shop onto the Hyundai Sports Club website and start to promote it with natural SEO methods and via the main Hyundai site. This hopefully will start a stream of sales which will add to the monthly turn over, especially if I can shift one or two body kits a month.

Anyone else had experience of drop shipping or running an ecommerce store?

I looked into the area of drop shipping but discovered that unless you can deal directly with the manufacturers it is not a wholly worthwhile exercise. Always ready to be proved wrong but this was my experience. I am looking for new lines at the moment and have found a new range of products I’m going to go with.

Love the design of this website - very clean and bright.
